Evaluation

I think my patience and understanding the crafts and final products of the cards, packaging, wrapping and also understanding the aim for what audiences I am aiming at. (People who don't know what to write on cards). The problem I that I found is that I struggled to produce a perfect back to back print of the cards and tags, I know it would be slightly not right but it was completely off. I found the first time I was foiling it wasn't right and some did not stick to the ink and was very patchy and thought this wouldn't work and would rethink how to produce the colours to fit the anniversary cards. My early design where for birthday cards but didn't right as a large set. Overall I am very happy what I produced and proud of it as the typography design fit with the art deco typography which I what I wanted, I didn't want it as old fashion text and I didn't want a very modern text but to fit in the middle of the page.

The 40 years of David bowie I found I great subject to do at the beginning but came not a great idea, as I felt I didn't really enjoy the it and was a bit too precious about it. The quality of images was not as great than I thought and was disappointed with the end result. But I should and will learn that maybe there is a balance between subjects you love, I know a lot of David Bowie and made it difficult to produce something perfect and then this creates mistakes of being too picky and not fitting the criteria. I think my ideas and concept where good but didn't come off well as a final product.

The Poppy Appeal Compition was a short simple brief, which I found that I really enjoyed that it something as an important subject and felt that it would good to take part. But I think my skills that I produce were to create a balance of creating and sketching ideas on paper onto computer. I produced two designs one for badges and the other as wrist bands, I think the wrist bands where defiantly the strongest as the logo I produce was simple and different and tried to keep it more modern, I designed it for the younger audiences between 13 - 21 which I think I target the audiences well. And was proud what I produce in short time.

Urban Outfitters was also a short brief in a day. A very quick simple fun brief the aim was to create something finalistic but suited the whole urban outfitter style. I jumped to one straight idea but considered layout and competition on my development. Many that I jumped into my idea to fast but felt that I need to do that if I wanted to do it in a day.

The democracy brief was one of the most hardest because it took longer than I thought and was disappointed with the end result my lack of understanding in design has suffered a lot in this brief but also I have now learnt a lot about design because of this brief. I think it was a messy brief with lost of time and confusing over lapping other briefs.

The Faber Faber was a very hard brief to do and very long maybe to long. (4 weeks). I felt very stuck with my images they didn't fit with the films some images where to detailed. But near the end of the briefing I found help buy asking a few people in my course at lunchtime rather than in a crit. What I have produced has worked really well and very proud what I produced and learnt that you should constantly play with ideas.

I found this module extremely hard and felt a lot of the time I had doubts that I was able to do this course. But actually looking finishing my work and looking back at it I should not of thought that and also did compared myself to other people which is probably the worst thing you could do. If I did have another chance I would be more cram about my work and is positive and step out of my comfort zone. I have I learnt a lot about myself rather than I learnt in skills. I should be more ambitious and confident.

Promotion

This is a reminder what I have produced on the faber faber brief and changed a few things:
I did some poster promotion of the books on billboards, this seem a good logical way to promot the books using the faber logo and the simple imagery I did question weather to have the title next to the image but I find that they work better on there own it would bring interstes of the posters.

also looked they they would work against other books, and also gave the imaegry a simple link what is what like I did on the boards.

2nd Poppy Appeal

I enjoyed this brief so i much I did another product.
I wanted to use dots to show a spotted field of Poppy's into a badge this was aimed at a much older audiences 30-80, so kept to the classic simple and similar to the original design.

These where sketches at first and moved them onto illustrator which gave me a quick and clean look what it would look like.

again I also pro ducted simple packaging.

Poppy Appeal

The Poppy Appeal was not meant to be a brief but became a 1 day and 1/2 brief. I pro ducted a simple logo design using simple shapes and colours to represent the poppy.

I then produced a logo into a wrist band and the aim was to aim it at teenagers 13-19. Making it new fresh and modern.

I also thought about how it would be packaged very simple and sticking to the the three colours to represent the poppy appeal.

Overall this was the brief I really enjoyed because it was straight forward to produce but also maybe because I didn't plan to do this brief and that I choose it for myself rather than the course.

Final Product

I used sugar paper stock, it gives it that throw away newspaper effect that it could be printed in vasts amount. I am happier with my desgin but feel that I struggled with the typography and layout as not full understanding how to use indesign.

CD/Poster

I liked the idea of making an two in one product poster and CD case. with lyrics inside. Used the same designs but took off the the typography on the poster to have the stripe across the cases.

I found that I enjoyed the making the case but found it very hard to make it perfect. But creating a neat and finished look of an product is not my strongest skills as even the most simplest product can go wrong. But felt this CD packaging went better than I thought because I made so many mistakes before.
